Surviving Summer……..a Kid’s View

Approved by: Rhonda Sue Page

Step #1.

Set time aside each day for us to do what we like to do.  It doesn’t have to be half the afternoon …. the idea is to be purposeful about getting to know us and what we are interested in.  Look, we get it…this is a sacrifice.  But please just trust us on this.  It will make all the difference in the world in a few years.

If you take time for us now, we’ll take time for you later.  In this way we’ll love each other through the busyness of life.

Step #2

As with everything else in life…Balance is key.  Plan time for work, plan time for fun, and plan time for nothing.

We may not like to admit it, but having us help around the house builds a sense of investment and stability in us.  I don’t have to “love” cleaning my room or making my bed every morning to appreciate the satisfaction I feel in accomplishing these tasks and being proud of the space I inhabit.  When that space is chaotic, I’m more likely to feel chaotic in it.

Step #3

Give us the gift of a good relationship with time.  Not every moment of our day needs structure.  Believe it or not, boredom is not our enemy.  It gives us the chance to use our imaginations. Build a Boredom Buster Jar.  For great ideas on what to include inside it click here.
